It is an INGO (international non-government organization) for Arabs displaying Arab fashion. All the talented fashion designers, hairstylists, makeup artists, and others participate in this event.
Jacob Arabi founded the Arab Fashion Week in 2015 in Dubai. Moreover, he was the first CEO of the event and currently also serves as one. Arab Fashion Week 2021 was a virtual edition that collaborated with Microsoft and aired on Facebook and Instagram. It streamed live from March 28 – 1 April 2021. Dubai designer Furne One, the founder of Amato Couture, opened the mega Arabian event.
Zaid Farouki is a designer from Dubai. He was born in Jordan and grew up in Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The first regional designer to collaborate with BIC, Zaid displayed his tremendous and bold collection for both men and women. His designs showcased human expression using colors such as bold red, yellow, and blue to highlight Arab fashion.
The collection of Euphoria La Dolce Vita (the Emirati label) was inspired by a comedy-drama movie of the 1960s directed by Federico Fellini. La Dolce Vita is an Italian term meaning the sweet life. They used a palette of neutral colors presenting voluminous shapes consisting of frilly pink dresses and black flowing gowns. The collection was made of soft fabrics capturing Arab fashion.
Nohma Kaaki, often termed as Alchemists of Designs, was born in Beirut, Lebanon. She is an architect as well as a fine jewelry designer. Her ideas are incredibly innovative. She presented her collection as Celestial Module—the world’s first-ever multi-use jewelry in the Arab Fashion Week 2021. Her bold statement jewelry consisted of earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces.
She terms her designs timeless and unique. One can wear her collection’s jewelry in different ways. Her designs have a bold touch with different geometric patterns. Nohma’s inspirational architectures include Zaha Hadid, Tadao Ando, and Moche Safadi.
Jean Charles Zakaria is a Lebanese fashion designer. The collection they presented was titled Vitality. The collection’s name symbolized the energy and power that women possess to shine bright and never lose hope. Their collection consisted of 12 lavish gowns. The colors of these gowns were orange, red, and yellow, black, pink, and blue. The gowns were chiefly woven in silk, chiffon, and muslin. The location of the shoot that Jean Charles chose gave an antique touch with magnificent walls and paintings.
Ihab Jiryis is a Palestinian designer who is greatly recognized for his haute-couture gowns. He named his collection ‘Between Reality and Imagination’ and presented it in the Arab Fashion Week. The collection consisted of gowns with precise embroidery and beadwork. Ihab has an undergraduate degree in Fashion Designing. He also has two master’s degrees in Theatrical and Cinema Costume and Traditional and Digital Design. Further, he holds a Ph.D. in Fashion Psychology.
The Turkish Ezra-Tuba had dedicated their time to finding fashion in technology. Ezra-Tuba showcased their collection titled Welcome to 2999. The designs were a depiction of future fashion. They used graphene denim and in collaboration with Orta Anadolu Denim. With their collection, they tried to convey that it’s high time we make the earth a livable planet and act responsibly towards mother earth.
Michael Cinco is an international Filipino fashion designer. He launched his two new perfumes in Arab Fashion Week 2021. The one scent for men was titled Impalpable Men and the other for women is Impalpable Dreams. The scent was a mixture of floral and citrus, which he describes as a dream of the nymph.
Antonio Grimaldi presented his collection New Couture Collection SS21 in Acquario Romano, a 19th-century building in Rome. He presented 32 incredible designs from his collection with marine environment decorations. The chief outfits included pantsuits, kaftans, and evening dresses. The afternoon suits were defined by jackets and basques falling on soft and wide pants. The kaftans were inspired by Capri, while the evening dresses had long tails and training falling from sleeves.
