FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week 2022: What's On The Menu?

The physical shows are back after two years and their offerings have brought back the glam and grandeur fashion enthusiasts live for. This year’s Lakme Fashion Week is being held from March 22rd to March 27th at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.The physical format is to be supplanted by a season-fluid session.

We will see an array of iconic fashion designers from India as well as a few exciting collaborations. Now let’s find out more on what the fashion week is bringing to the runway!

Rahul Mishra has attracted much appreciation after his digital show at  Paris Haute Couture Week. He will present a grand show this time for the Opening Show at the Italian Embassy. 

Young aspiring designers such as Alpona Designs and Shriya Khanna will put forward a celebration of crafts and tales through their collections on the first day. Following them will be a brilliant list of designers doing the same - realme x Shantanu and Nikhil, Lakme Lumi Cream x Alpana Neeraj, Lakme Salon x Varun Bahl Couture, and Samant Chauhan. 

Sustainable Fashion Day will be a part of Lakme Fashion Week this time. Bemberg™ x Payal Pratap; Vaishali S Couture, Adidas Originals x Antar-Agni and Khanijo, FDCI Khadi Show comprising French-Malian designer, Mossi Traoré and leading Indian designers Abhishek Gupta Benares, Anavila, Anju Modi, Charu Parashar and Rina Dhaka will have their contributions to uphold the importance of sustainable fashion. This night will end with the exhibitions of R|Elan x Satya Paul by Rajesh Pratap Singh. 

Fashion week and (PETA) have come together on Sustainable Fashion Day. The aim is to present a number of conscious leather-free designs curated by multiple labels.

On the second day we will have ‘RISE Worldwide x Fashion For Good: Innovation for Circularity’ featuring collections by Nitin Bal Chauhan, Divyam Mehta, and Ka-Sha. This season will witness the return of the much desired Circular Design Challenge – an initiative of R|Elan™ in partnership with FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week and UN in India & United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The third day will be interesting with a wide palette of colours, textures, and all things marvellous. Watch out for shows curated by Jajaabor, Aisha Rao, Nikita Mhaisalkar, Kaveri, Rajdeep Ranawat, FDCI Showcase: Ashish N Soni.

Designer Ananya Modi Jain, will be showcasing her NBA 75 collection (as a continuation with the collaboration with NBA) . Apart from this we will have Eshaa Amin, Nirmooha, Punit Balana, Ranna Gill, Pankaj & Nidhi, Bata x Suneet Varma and John Jacobs x Shivan & Narresh.

The final day will come with a surprise:  The Plus Size Store returns to host a plus size show! It doesn’t stop here. Do watch out for some interesting exhibitions by 6 Degree, Abhishek Sharma, FDCI x Pearl Academy First Cut and Siddartha Tytler.

Manish Malhotra will be expanding his brand with the launching of his new collection called Diffuse. Tarun Tahiliani will be there on the closing day with his luxury prêt showcase.
