Let’s begin with Congratulations! Looks like someone is ready to take their business to the next level - an online Shopify Store! This is great, because this is a comprehensive e-store that helps build an online marketplace from scratch. It includes designing an online store, shipping solutions, payment, and more. Shopify is one of the best and easiest e-commerce websites in the world. If the business is ready for this, the Shopify store will be ready in the next 30 minutes - this guide will talk about everything there is to know about setting up and handling a Shopify store for a fashion brand.

1. Choose a Name for the business

The most important part of setting up a business is choosing a name for the brand. Choose wisely, because this is the name that will show up everywhere, and this is what makes a brand unique. Choose a name that is simple, unique, and relevant. Try to keep it short. One can use an online business name generator to help with the process of choosing a name.

2. Create a Shopify Account

All one has to do is go to www.shopify.com/signup and click on “start your free trial.” Here, there is an option of getting a 14-day free trial to get a feel of the working of the Shopify shop. Enter the name of your store and create a shop. One will have to key in details such as name, email, and store name. Note that the store name can be changed or edited later. Next,  provide some information about the store so that relevant newsletters from Shopify help the brand help set up the business. Next, add the mailing address. If there is a physical storefront, that address can be used, or else one can simply provide the home address. Click on Enter My Store.

3. Shopify Theme

Shopify Theme

A theme is basically a preset template that gives the website a cool look without having to write code. Choose from the 100s of themes available on Shopify. To edit the theme of the Shopify store,  click on online store > themes. Next, click on the visit theme store button. Pick one in the recommended themes section. Some of these are free, and some are paid. Choose the theme that suits the store the best.

4. Time to Customize

As every business or store is unique, it’s time to customize the theme that is chosen. Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize. Once the store customization is done, it’s time to optimize it next.

5. Optimize your store:

Shopify’s default settings are great, no doubt. There are still ways to optimize the store so that it’s shiny, new, and perfect.

  • Click on settings to get started. First, go to general settings. Here, one can edit the store name, email, address, etc. Once done with the settings, click Save.
  • Next, go to the payment provider settings. Click on Complete account set up so that the payment gateway can be configured. Fill in all the necessary details and click on complete account setup.
  • Next, go to form options. Click on Require first name and last name so that if there is an email list, it will be easier to send out personalized emails to customers. Click on Save.
  • Next comes legal settings, which include refund policy, privacy policy, and Terms of Service agreement. Shopify can generate one based on the details you provide. However, it is recommended that the business have an attorney review this once your store starts generating income.

6. Register the domain name

The domain name is how the customers can reach out on the website. Use Shopify to register the domain name. One can also register the domain with a third party, but with Shopify, everything is integrated and easy for the business to handle.

7. Create essential pages

Create essential pages

Now that the store is almost ready, create pages such as a contact us page, about us page, and shipping policy page. Once the pages are added, customize them, click on save.

8. Add the products

Now, it’s time to put the products on display! Click on products and add products. Add relevant descriptions and good-quality images. Add proper tags to help the product get found easily. Then add the price, inventory, shipping details, and variants.
