The world’s biggest red carpet is back! Canceled last year for the first time since the Second World War, the 74th Annual Cannes Film Festival is taking place from 6th - 7th July 2021. Cannes is as much about fashion as films. We await the celebrities clad in their favourite designer clothes, making an entrance. The film festival celebrated gender equality, ethnic diversity, and inclusivity this year. The star-studded event has not failed to mesmerize audiences despite the covid19 lurking at the corner.

The red carpet celebrated the glamour it is usually famed for. We have handpicked 10 best looks from the Cannes Red Carpet 2021 :

1. Bella Hadid in Jean Paul Gaultier

She is known for having some of the biggest fashion moments on the red carpet. This time was no exception. She wore a vintage white column gown by Jean Paul Gaultier. The gown had a halter neck and a black sheer train for a theatrical effect. She accessorized the dress with Chopard jewels. The dress is from Gaultier’s 2002 Spring/Summer collection, worn by Naomi Campbell for the Paris Haute Couture Week.

2. Luma Grothe in Zuhair Murad

The Brazilian model wore a dazzling see-through jumpsuit made from regal gold fabric. The top had a halter neck with a triangular cutout. The pant had an attached train. She accessorized the dress with pointed golden pump shoes. She looked gorgeous to steal the red carpet with her radiance.

3. Hellen Mirren in Dolce Gabbana

She brightened the frame with her radiant yellow dress, looking gorgeous against the red carpet in long meshed sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. The emerald necklace and earrings were ideal accessories for her dress. She carried a yellow clutch and wore matching shoes.

4. Jodie Foster in Givenchy

The recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award was glowing in her white column dress. Her subtle beauty accentuated her red carpet appearance. The dress was chic and subtle with silver accents and delicate embellishments. She complimented the dress with Chopard jewelry, cocktail ring, and pebble-stacked earrings.

5. Jodie Turner-Smith in Gucci

A dress to remember! She turned many heads with her multi-toned dress that was worth showstopping. She wore a custom strapless dress. The black-and-tan bustier top had a silver crystal embellishment. The corseted gown was white till it reached the floor with a yellow feather spread. She accessorized it with a gorgeous necklace, earrings, a statement ring, and a bracelet.

6. Tina Kunakey in Valentino

She achieved the drama on the red carpet through her ensemble attire. She stood out in her lavender top which she wrapped around her head and shoulders. The top was tied at her waist with a red bow. The skit had a nice side twirl and was in a deeper purple shade. She didn’t need any accessories after all that!

7. Marion Cotillard in Chanel

Her shimmering one-shoulder metallic gown with layers of silver lace and embellishment stole the show. The dress was part of the small haute couture collection of the Chanel house. The aesthetic appeal of the dress was accented by Cotillard’s simple elegance, so much so that looking at it seemed we are looking at a piece of art. Minimal accessories have been Cortillard’s hallmark style and she maintained so.

8. Catrinel Marlon in Iris Van harpen

She wore a white strapless dress above the knee length. There was a white overlay of a wing that is made from the recycled debris of the ocean. There was something very unique about the way she carried her dress with white sandals and dangling earrings. She wore a large flower-shaped ring.

9. Didi Stone in Lorenzo Serafini

From the new Philosophy collection by Lorenzo Serafini, Didi Stone chose the strapless flowing gown for her second day at Cannes. The shimmer of the dress comes from the iridescent pale pink colour. The skirt had subtle pleats which accented the fall. There a bow attached to the neckline. She accessorized the beautiful dress with Pomellato jwelery.

10. Diane Kruger in Armani Privé

She looked exceptionally well in her black halter dress with a small triangular cut out in the middle. The gown was semi-sheer and had a striped skirt attached with a velvet band. She wore the style with much grace. For some, it may have been a little underwhelming but an old-school retro look didn’t stop her from adding elegance to the frame.
